CAPricious CAPtion 3.1

Hey Cool People, Jon here again with a brand spankin' new CAP update!

1. Upcoming Season
2. NSO Murder Mystery
3. Business Manager Applications

1. Upcoming Season
The new semester is less than a week away so things are about to get exciting. How exciting? How about "three awesome shows" exciting!
The first on the docket, as always, is our annual charity/sketch comedy extravaganza Comic Relief. However, this is no ordinary CR. This year the Comic Relief programs will have two big X'es on the cover. That's right, Comic Relief is celebrating its 20th anniversary! Hopefully, this thing will be as great as my 20th birthday with the added bonus that I'm actually gonna remember what happened the next morning. Yeah, things are gonna get pretty crazy this year. Of course, next year will probably be crazier as Comic Relief will be legally allowed to start drinking.
Comic Relief is, as always, a great way to get involved so look out for those auditions (I'm sure you'll get about a thousand Facebook messages reminding you) and get ready to rock out. There might even be a few Assistant Director slots open so send in your applications to Jeff.Kowalski@collegeaveplayers.com.

The first real play of the season is a classic! Get your suits clean or your baseball caps dirty because CAP is taking on Neil Simon's The Odd Couple. It'll be directed by the titular star of last year's Zipperface (SPOILER ALERT) Cory Minervini and CAP's own president Emma Waldron and is sure to be a hell of a lot of fun! And it's the play and not the TV show so you won't have to worry about getting that damned theme song stuck in your head.

After that, the weather will start getting cold so CAP will heat it up with Charles Busch's Psycho Beach Party. Directed by Greg Bing and Sam Ahearn (both fresh from stints Off-Broadway. Seriously) this show has laughs, bikinis, and more 50s surf music than you could shake a boogie board at! And, since it originated as a drag show, you'll have no idea what role you might get cast as!

All in all this is shaping up to be another great, quirky season for the College Avenue Players!

2. NSO Murder Mystery
For all you people who thought Comic Relief was CAP's only way of giving back, I point you to this: a spooky Murder Mystery that we have agreed to help NSO organize. You recently got an e-mail from its director (Wacky Hijinks star Adam Holsten) so check it out and, if you'd like to audition or be involved, e-mail him at aholsten@eden.rutgers.edu. This is sure to be a great time for all of you out there who love to play Clue but always end up thinking, "This is great, but why's it so damned two dimensional?"

3. Business Manager Applications
As we all know, the CAP E-Board is more difficult to get on than the Free Masons and the Illuminati combined (not really) so when I say that a position has opened up, you better start listening! We are holding elections for a new Business Manager so, if you're interested in running or voting, you need to come to the board meeting on Sunday the 14th. If you want to run but can't make that date, write up a brief letter saying why you deserve the job and mail it in to emma.waldron@collegeaveplayers.com by Saturday the 13th.

That's all the new news for now (heh, "new news"), so get excited, motherf**kers, and we'll see you soon!

Your Friends Neighborhood CAP Secretary,
Jon Bershad
